In summer 2020, following a tumultuous end to the 2019-20 school year in which many major assessments were canceled and schools across California moved to a distance learning model, the state passed Senate Bill 98, which waived the Local Control & Accountability Plan (LCAP) requirement for the upcoming 2020-21 school year.
With all of the changes and challenges brought on by the COVID-19 crisis, the LCAP, and its typical process of school district planning and review, did not seem appropriate or wholly adequate in the midst of a pandemic. Still, the need for a strategic plan remained as great as ever. To address this need, SB 98 established a new plan for 2020-21: the Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan (LCP).
The aim of the LCP was “to address funding stability for schools while providing information at the local educational agency (LEA) level for how student learning continuity will be addressed during the COVID-19 crisis in the 2020–21 school year.”
We believe that effective collaboration is essential to school success and that effective collaboration is only possible when stakeholders are informed and engaged. In 2015 we created the LCAP infographic to help districts do just that, and this year, we’ve created 2 new infographics to help summarize and communicate the contents of the Learning Continuity Plan.
- LCP Summary: A 2-page overview of program changes and measures being taken in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the new Learning Continuity & Attendance Plan.
- LCP Complete: A comprehensive 8 to 10 page infographic covering program changes and measures being taken in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the new Learning Continuity & Attendance Plan.
As with our LCAP infographics, our proprietary process distills the LCP down to the most essential information, and presents it in such a way that it’s engaging and easy to understand. A quick look through the infographics should be all it takes to bring a parent, student or teacher up to speed with District plans and actions.
Now more than ever, schools and stakeholders must work together if they are to succeed. With our new LCP infographics, we help School Districts bridge that gap, so that students can emerge from this year well-prepared for the future.
