Gobo’s Randall Putz and State Superintendent Tony Thurmond Chat About Education in California
On June 22nd, 2024, Gobo’s founder, Randall Putz, had the opportunity to meet California’s State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tony Thurmond. This encounter was consistent with Gobo’s ongoing effort, now in its 10th year, to create transparency around Local Control and Accountability Plans (LCAPs) that support California’s education system.
A Mission of Transparency
One of Gobo’s important goals is to help ensure transparency in educational planning and funding, particularly around LCAPs. These plans are crucial tools for California’s education system as they outline the goals, actions, services, and expenditures that support positive student outcomes. Gobo has created thousands of infographics for these documents, for over 100 school districts, COEs, and charters, underlines its important role in making these documents accessible and understandable for all stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and community members. Turns out Gobo’s mission aligns well with Superintendent Thurmond’s vision of an inclusive and transparent education system.
A Pioneer in Education Infographics
A standout moment of the meeting was when Randy recounted the creation of the first LCAP infographic in the State of California. This groundbreaking work not only set a precedent, but also demonstrated the power of data visualization that makes complex information accessible. Randy’s infographic served as a model for other districts and organizations, showcasing how a smarter presentation can enhance understanding and engagement.
Gobo’s Commitment to California Education
Randy’s meeting with Superintendent Thurmond highlights Gobo’s ongoing commitment to California’s public education. This extends beyond infographics – Gobo is dedicated to providing tools and resources that help districts create and communicate a variety of planning and reporting documents. Our platform enables schools to communicate their plans effectively, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and involved in the educational process.
